Blackcurrant is a woody shrub in the family Grossulariaceae grown for its berries. It is native to temperate parts of central and northern Europe and northern Asia. In the past, it was used against plagues, fevers, and to lift bad moods, especially melancholy.

Features

Blackcurrant oil is extracted from the seeds: it has a high content of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid of the omega-6 series. It also acts as a stimulant of the adrenal glands in the production of cortisol, an endogen cortisone that helps the body to react to inflammation.
